Our Faith
The Short Version: We are a Reformed Baptist Church.
By Reformed, we mean that we have a high view of Scripture (acknowledging its inerrancy, infallibility, sufficiency, and perspicuity), we hold to the Doctrines of Grace (we are Calvinistic), and we deeply appreciate the theological formulations and teachings that came out of the Reformation (such as the Five Solas: Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, & Soli Deo Gloria).
By Baptist we mean that we are a congregationally governed church, and we practice believer’s baptism and meaningful membership.
By church we mean that we are Christians. We share the faith of Christians of old. We are proud to confess the same faith as the saints who have now joined the cloud of witnesses in heaven. We love and hold to the ancient Christian creeds: the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the Chalcedonian Definition.
While we are not a part of any denomination, we value partnering with, praying for, and serving fellow Christians from other churches, both here in Honolulu and all over the world.
The Long Version: 1689 London Baptist Confession
We have adopted the Second London Baptist Confession (1689) as our statement of faith. We find this historic confession to be a faithful and edifying summary of Christian belief.
