Jeremiah Zuo - Elder & Pastor

Jeremiah serves HBC with a passion for careful, deliberate, and joyful exposition of God's Word.

Jeremiah grew up in the Chicagoland and came to saving faith sometime in his teen years. As a young adult Jeremiah felt a desire to serve the church full-time. His deep trust in the sufficiency of Scripture led him to spend his entire formal education pursuing understanding the Bible. He holds a B.Th in Theology (Prairie College), an M.A. in Old Testament and Semitic Languages (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) and is finishing a Ph.D. in Biblical Hebrew (University of the Free State).

Jeremiah and his wife Lexi previously served as missionaries in Uganda. After returning to the U.S., they spent 11 years at Grace Covenant Baptist Church (Elgin, IL), where for six years Jeremiah was Pastor of Adult Education. Jeremiah has also served as a visiting professor at Knox School of Theology (Mbale, Uganda) and a lecturer in Old Testament at the Nairobi Institute of Reformed Theology (Nairobi, Kenya).

Jeremiah and Lexi love raising their five children and spending time with their church family. Through a providential connection with Pastor Billy and much prayer, the Zuo family moved to Honolulu to serve HBC in 2025.
